音楽や漫画など、エンタメの好みは中高生のころにほぼほぼ決まると言いますが、私の音楽の趣味は、当時よく再生していた「かっこいい洋楽集」(YouTubeによくあるやつ）により形成されたことを告白します。この曲はその中でも特に衝撃を受けた曲であります。またTony Slyの訃報があった年には美術の時間で彼の肖像画を描いたであります。

所感
- 冒頭はアコースティックギターから始まるこの曲、Tonyは自室でひとり口ずさむように歌います。まるで小説の一部かのように淡々と彼女の話が続き、私は破滅的な女性に対するカッコよさ、儚さ、美しさ、を感じます。お洒落な映画をみている気分だ。
- そんな中、唐突に疾走感満載のバンドサウンドが流れ込んでくる。ここで曲の形相はガラリと変わります。何か彼女を見下している感じがありつつも、
「お前を幸せにするような男性像がわかるけども俺にその能力（資格）はない」
「少なくともバーでお前の話を聞いているヤツらよりも俺のほうがお前のことをわかっている」
みたいな卑屈でキモいリアルな男の感情が爆発して、そのまま藻掻きながら耳に流れ込んでくるんです。被害妄想じゃありません。これが最高に気持ち良いんですよ。
No Useを聴いているとたまに、青春,哀愁のような感情がごちゃ混ぜになり、視界がホワイトアウトしていく感覚に襲われます。なにか人生に対して、いつの間にかあきらめていた思いや欲望がフツフツと湧き上がってくる。でもそんな思いが曲を聴いている間に疾走感とともに成仏するんだ。
- 曲は最後にYou let me downで終わります。自分はアウトロで彼女の昔のすがたが高速な走馬灯のように流れてくる気分に陥って、「やっぱり今の発言なし！！」って言いたくなるヘタレである。エモいですよね。
